Sony TV repair

Sony Bravia TVs have a feature that helps with repairs: when something fails, the red light blinks a set number of times, pointing to the faulty part. We repair older KDL and KD models, Android TV and Google TV Bravias, XR models and OLED series — from power supplies and backlights to software.

Common Sony TV faults

Red light blinking, TV won't turn on

The number of blinks between pauses is a Sony error code. Using it along with measurements, we find out whether the problem is the power supply, the backlight or the main board. If you can, count the blinks before you call us — it speeds up diagnostics.

Sound but no picture on LED Bravias

On LED models (the X series) the cause is usually the backlight: the LED strips or their driver. If the picture is visible under a torch, the panel is fine and only the backlight is replaced.

Stuck on the Sony logo or keeps restarting

Android and Google TV models sometimes hang on the start-up screen or loop through restarts. We try a software recovery and an update; if the board memory is damaged, the main board is replaced or reprogrammed.

Bravia OLED: lines, shadows, dark areas

On OLED models (the A series) we check whether the fault lies in the T-con section, the panel cables or the panel itself. If it's the panel, you get a clear assessment of whether the repair is worth it beforehand.

Where to find the Sony model number

The model number is on the label at the back and in the menu under Settings → System → About. Example: KD-55X85J — KD is a Sony 4K TV (KDL are older Full HD models, XR models with the Cognitive Processor appeared in 2021), 55 is the screen size in inches, X85 is the series (series starting with A are OLED) and the letter J stands for 2021 (K is 2022, L is 2023).

FAQ — Sony service

What does it mean when the red light on a Sony TV blinks?

It's self-diagnosis: the TV has detected a fault and shut itself down for protection. The number of blinks points to the part to check — power supply, backlight or board. Don't keep switching it on and off; tell us the model and the number of blinks.

Do you repair Sony Bravia XR and OLED models?

Yes, we repair both the XR range and Bravia OLED TVs. Parts for these models depend on the exact model number, so type it into the search at the top of the page or send it to us.

How long does a TV repair take?

Most faults are fixed within 1 to 3 working days. When a part has to be ordered from outside Serbia (e.g. a screen, mainboard or LED strips for less common models), the repair can take 5 to 15 days — in that case we offer you a loan TV to use until the repair is finished.

Do you give a warranty on repairs?

Yes, every repair comes with a warranty of at least 12 months, covering both the installed part and the labour.

Do you make home visits?

Yes! A call-out within Belgrade (up to a 10 km radius) costs 2,500 RSD; fault diagnostics are not included in this price. Only minor work can be done on site (resetting the device, software updates, setting it up...).

How much does diagnostics cost?

Diagnostics are free if you go ahead with the repair. If you decide against the repair, diagnostics cost 1,500 RSD, paid in advance when you drop off the device. If you decline the repair, you don't have to collect the device — if you wish, we can send it for free recycling.
